Table orders
Table orders
On the Pro plan, guests can add dishes to an order list on the menu while they browse. With table orders, the waiter doesn't copy that list by hand any more: the guest shows a code on their phone, the waiter scans it, and the dishes land in an order for the table, with the venue's real prices.
At a table of five, two or three guests may each have a list. The waiter scans one phone after another, and everything adds up into one order: 3 × Burrata, 1 × Pizza (Family, Garlic sauce).
What the guest does
- Adds dishes to the order list on the menu, with sizes and extras.
- Opens the list and taps Show to the waiter.
- Shows the screen to the waiter: a QR code with a short code underneath (K7M2QP).
The code stays valid for 30 minutes and works once. If it has expired, the guest taps Show to the waiter again.
What the waiter does
- Open Orders in the bottom bar.
- Under New order, tap the table's button or type one (Terrace 2). Add a note if useful. Tap Open order.
- Tap Scan a guest's basket. The camera opens: point it at the guest's screen. The dishes appear, and the phone vibrates.
- Tap Scan next basket for the next guest. The list at the top always shows the whole table's order, added up, with the total.
- When the table is served, tap Close order. It moves to History, where you can still open it (and reopen it if you closed it by mistake).
No camera, or the screen won't scan? Type the code shown under the QR into the box and tap Add. Turning the guest's screen brightness up usually fixes scanning.
If a waiter scans the guest's code with the phone's own camera app instead, Azcarte opens the Orders screen with that basket ready: open an order for the table, or tap Add here on an open one.
Your tables, without setting them up
You don't need to create your tables anywhere. The first time a waiter types Table 7, it becomes a button on the New order screen, for every waiter on the team. Tables printed on your table codes are buttons from the start.
- table 7 and Table 7 are the same table: the waiter can type it either way.
- A table nobody has used for 60 days disappears from the buttons, so a typo cleans itself up.
- Tap a table that already has an open order and you land in that order, so a table never gets two orders side by side.
Adding what guests ask for out loud
"And one more coffee." No need to ask the guest to add it to their list and show it again:
- In the order, type in Add an item (cof). Matching dishes from your menu appear, one line per size, with the price. They appear as you type, even on a weak signal, and accents don't matter: creme finds Crème.
- Set the quantity with − and +, then tap the dish. It joins the order's list and total.
- Not on the menu? Tap Add "…" as written. The line is kept as typed, without a price, and doesn't count in the total.
Lines added this way are listed under Added by staff. Tap × to remove one added by mistake. Extras (toppings, sauces) can't be picked here yet: add them as a line as written.
Who can use it
Everyone on your team: owners, managers and waiters with the Staff role. They all see the open orders and the history, so a colleague can add a basket to a table someone else opened. Invite waiters from Team in the advanced interface with the role Staff (guest requests & table orders).
Good to know
- Prices come from your menu at the moment the guest taps Show to the waiter. If you change a price later, orders already scanned keep the old one.
- Scanning the same code twice into the same order does nothing. A code already used for another table is refused, so a bill can't be doubled by accident.
- History keeps the last 30 days.
Turning it off
Don't want guests showing their list to the waiter? Open Account → Advanced interface → My Venue → Edit, and under Guest features turn off Show the order list to the waiter. Guests keep their order list on their phone, without the button, and your staff no longer see the Orders tab. It's on by default.
