Menu languages

The difference between your interface language and your menu languages, and how to control what guests can see.

Menu languages

There are two different languages in Azcarte, and mixing them up is the most common source of confusion.

Interface language

The language you administer in. Changed in Account → Interface language. Affects only your own screens — buttons, labels, menus in the manager.

Available in English, French and Romanian.

Menu languages

The languages your guests can read the menu in. Managed per menu in Manage languages. Nothing to do with the language you work in.

Available in far more languages than the interface.

Changing your interface language to French does not translate your menu. Adding French to your menu does not change your buttons.

Manage languages

Open it from Home → Menu actions → Manage languages. The page splits into two groups.

Original language

Your menu's source language — the one you typed the dishes in. It is always on and cannot be switched off. Everything else is a translation of it.

Other languages

Each additional language has two independent switches:

  • Enabled for this menu — the language exists, and you can write translations for it.
  • Visible to guests — the language actually appears in the public menu's language picker.

Those two being separate is deliberate. You can enable a language, translate it over several sittings, check it reads well, and only then make it visible. A language with nothing in it shows No translations yet; one that is translated but still switched off shows Translations ready but hidden from guests.

Work in this order: enable → translate → check → make visible. Guests never see a half-finished language that way.

How many languages you get

Your plan caps the total number of languages on a menu, including the original:

FreeStandardPro
Languages per menu23Unlimited

So on Free, your original language plus one translation. The page tells you your own cap: "Your plan supports up to languages in total (including your original)."

Filling in the translations

Two ways, and they mix freely:

  • By hand — the Languages tab of each product, and Translations inside Edit section.
  • Assisted translation — translates the whole menu in one pass.

Empty fields always fall back to the original language, so a partly translated menu never shows blanks to a guest.
